Over the past four months, Thame Hub's foodie has been reviewing every takeaway in Thame.
In total 12 takeaway venues were reviewed. They were: The Sun, Famous House, Harvest Moon, Mings, Smarts Fish & Chips, The Chippy, Atalay's Kebab Van, Patrons Pizza, Dominos, The Star and Garter, House of Spice and Dewani Shahs.
From the 13 reviews that Thame Hub conducted, the takeaways were broken down into the following categories: Chinese, chippy, kebab, pizza delivery and Indian. From those categories a winner was picked from each one.
The winners from each category were:
Chinese: Ming's Chinese Takeaway
Chippy: Smarts Fish & Chips
Kebab: Atalay's Kebab Van
Pizza Delivery: Patrons Pizza
Indian: House of Spice
But there could only be one overall winner. As our foodie had completed all of the reviews, we left it up to them to decide the overall winner:
"It has been a memorable four months, I've eaten from restaurants that I would not normally get to eat at. Each takeaway I ate had its own individual merits. The final five all had excellent reviews and it was hard to choose between them. If you haven't had a chance to try one of them, I would thoroughly recommend them all.
But I have to pick one winner and that winner is................... The House of Spice!!
I chose The House of Spice because I felt it was not only the best value for money(coming in at £20.95) but the quality of the food was outstanding. Every dish was full of flavour and the friendly service I received when picking up the takeaway was excellent, even chucking in a free beer for my troubles. It's an honour to have a local business on Thame's high street still thriving the way The House of Spice is."
Thame Hub caught up with Mahraj Choudry from The House of Spice, whilst delivering him the Thame's Best Takeaway trophy, he had the following to say:
"We are so pleased to have won Thame Hub's Best Takeaway award. We always look for ways to make ourselves better, and to serve good quality food with the best service.
We provide a great selection of dishes on our menu and will also be introducing a Lebanese menu. We want to thank Thame Hub for their efforts, and for thinking of something like this. It really gives local businesses a great opportunity to showcase their talents. On behalf of myself, and the The House of Spice team, thank you."
