The Red kites continued their Pitching In Southern League Central Division 1 campaign with a rearranged match against Ware at Wodson Park. Manager Ben Williams made a number of changes after the last outing.Pelumi Maxwell replaced Eric Mafuta at right back, Steve Ajuda came in for Jordan Jenkins who moved to the bench, Pierce McNamara replaced Kian Wilkes and there was a debut for Jayden Carbon coming in for Alfie Anderson. The game started with the home side playing a high line and leaving plenty of space for Thame to play on the counter attack, soaking up the home teams pressure then hitting on the break. The game plan worked after 10 minutes when the Visitors took the lead after a break down the right hand side, the ball crossed into the middle and found Ezra Forde unmarked in the 6 yard box to knock the ball into the empty net. The red kites were causing all sorts of problems on the break A few minutes later another break on the left hand side with the ball crossed into the box finding Jayden Carbon in the box who fired the ball into the net, but the flag went up for off side.
The visitors continued to trouble the home side on the counter attack and were rewarded in the 40th Minute, when Jayden Carbon beat the offside trap, took the ball to the byline and crossed to find Eitel Goueth who struck a sublime left foot shot into the top left corner. The Home side were back in the game in injury time following a free kick on the left hand side the ball was played into the box and with their first shot on target the ball was headed home by Theophilus Ofori, the half ended with the visitors ahead 2 -1.
The second half started in much the same way and on 49 minutes a break on the right hand side saw Eitel Goueth cross into the box and with Jayden Carbon meeting the ball at the far post and smashing the ball into the roof of the net. The visitors thought they had scored again as another break and cross found Eitel in the box and his shot found the ball of the net, but the flag went up for offside, a very close call. The two goal lead lasted until 66 minutes when the home side pulled a goal back, and as they piled on the pressure the visitors conceded again on 82 minutes. Both goals not great goals to concede and probably could have defended better.
However the goal scoring wasn’t finished as the home side pressed for the winner the ball was played over the top for Ben Kakembo to run through and calmly slot the ball past the keeper to restore the lead. As the game went into 6 minutes of extra time the home side pushed hard for the equaliser. And controversially the equaliser came in the dying minutes with a home corner, whilst Thame were making a substitute, although the sub was allowed on the pitch the corner was taken before Lewis Cross could get into position to defend it As the corner was taken a shot from the home side was deflected past keeper Fred Chapman into net for the equaliser. An entertaining game ended in a 4-4 draw one of the best attacking performances so far this season, but disappointment not to come away with all 3 points.
