Villagers and visitors in Chinnor were once more invited to follow a Scarecrow Trail of fantasy-themed characters, organised by Christian Aid supporters.
Organiser of the trail, Mavis Shortman said:
‘Thank you to all who supported our Scarecrow Trail. It was good to see lots of families out enjoying the warm weather and the amazing scarecrows, some of which you can see in the photos. Donations are still coming in and we expect to reach £700. For the last 3 years we have raised £1,000 each time, so the economic situation is definitely affecting how much people are able to give.
‘The theme this year was Favourite Fantasy Characters, with 23 participants including a wide range of age groups taking part. This gave us a broad range of characters which have appealed to different generations.
‘On our JustGiving page we have reflected on the impact of climate change. Christian Aid continues to work in countries worldwide, with people of all faiths and none, to help communities cope with these changes.
‘With your donations Christian Aid will continue to stand with the poorest of our neighbours, to campaign for change and stand up for equality, dignity and justice. Together we can create a world where everyone can live a full life and poverty is eradicated.’
Donations may still be made at the Scarecrow Trail’s JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/chinnor-scarecrow-trail
Christian Aid works alongside local partners, with people of all faiths and none, campaigning on human rights issues, providing long-term projects to support communities out of poverty, and humanitarian aid such as in the recent Libya Floods Appeal.
