Please see the below from Thame Town Council:
Back in May 2024, Thame Town Council approved a new committee structure to better reflect the current work of the council and its aspirations for the future. The new committees have now all met and below is a summary of what was discussed at those meetings.
You can view all past and upcoming meeting agendas, reports and minutes on the Town Council’s website.
Environment & Assets Committee (2 July)
Excitingly, the committee has signed the legal documents to transfer the new allotments on the Bellway site (Hampden Gardens) to the Town Council – more news to follow this month, watch this space!
Reports were also received on: Thame Green Living Plan progress, building condition surveys of the council office buildings, and an energy assessment audit at the Town Hall. There were updates on the new play park at Elms Park, the Rycote Meadow project, Thame’s War Memorial, and the work of the Maintenance Team.
The committee approved repairs to the Museum roof and use of the Town Council’s Maintenance Van to support a long-distance charity bike ride.
Community Services Committee (16 July)
Along with receiving updates from no less than 12 recent or upcoming events in Thame, the committee agreed to support in principle a new community-run event for 2025 – Thame Pride! Event planning is in the early stages, but you can follow the Thame Pride Facebook page to stay up to date.
The committee also agreed to support an exhibition at Thame Museum and a blue plaque for Johnny Smythe, a remarkable man who retired in Thame after having a key role in the Windrush movement.
Looking ahead, the Thame Fair agreements were signed for 2024-2026 and plans for Christmas in Thame were discussed. Other updates included: community engagement report, phone box, CCTV and community safety.
Corporate Governance Committee (30 July)
A large focus of this committee is the responsible management of the council’s finances, hence the main discussion being about investments and monitoring the council’s income and expenditure.
Planning Committees (25 June and 23 July)
Aside from commenting on planning applications in Thame, the committee also responded to consultations about double yellow lines on Elms Road and Traffic Sensitive Streets, as well as suggesting street names and receiving updates from the Travel Plan Working Group.
The planning committee meets every 4 weeks. Look out for a feature in next week’s newsletter all about how you can stay up to date on planning applications in Thame.
