Thame United Weekend Results Update

8th October 2024

Thame United First team were in action in the third qualifying round of the Isuzu FA Trophy when they travelled to Isthmian league side Uxbridge FC. Thame made a great start with Mark Riddick heading the visitors into a first half lead. Uxbridge fought back and scored two second half goals before Harry Alexander netted an equaliser in the 90th minute, it looked to be heading to penalties, when an Uxbridge player was bought down in the box with 30 seconds of added time to play. This was converted and sent Uxbridge through to the first round proper.

Thame United Reserves were back in Oxfordshire Senior League Premier League action with tough away trip to Saxton Rovers, and made a good start to the game with an early goal. A flowing move from the back resulting in wing back Dino Bonwick cutting in and slotting the ball into the far corner past the keeper.

Thame were then pulled back with the last kick of the half, 7 minutes into stoppage time. The second half saw Saxton take the lead against the run of play, which kicked Thame into gear. A Jamieson Hunt direct free kick followed by substitute Jordan Lawrence scoring a half volley on his left foot, to seal a fantastic win on the road. This meant Thame came away with an impressive 3 - 2 victory. The victory keeps Thame in second place on twelve points behind leaders Yarnton on goal difference.

In the Aylesbury and District League Division One Thame United B took on Tring Athletic at the Michael Anthony Stadium, getting back to winning ways with a 2 - 1 victory. Tring took the lead on 17 minutes only for Kaiyun Reeves to equalise three minutes later, with Ricky Blake scoring the winning goal at the end of the first half. The win maintains the side in second place in the league on 9 points.

In Division Two of the Aylesbury and District League there was an entertaining game at Meadow View Park as Thame United C, ran out 5 - 3 winners against Wingrave Development. With Ben Ward netting four goals and James Keeble getting the other, the win keeps Thame in seventh place in the table.

On Sunday Thame United Women continued their good start to the season in Division Two of the Thame Valley League when they welcomed S4K FC Ladies to Meadow View Park, Yasmin Williams opened the scoring on 10 minutes, to give the home side a half time lead, with two goals from Shona Reid Evans and One from India Cox in the second half wrapping up the points. The win maintains the teams unbeaten start to the season and remain top of the table.
