Thame United first team put their midweek defeat behind them with a comfortable victory against Aylesbury United in the Pitching In Southern League Central Division One. On a wet and windy afternoon, the home side got off to a fast start with goals from Dan West and Harry Alexander in the opening 10 minutes. Despite numerous changes, it wasn’t until the 73rd minute that Thame secured their third goal — a wonder strike from Jefferson Louis. New signing Hayden Beadle added a goal on his debut to wrap up a 4-0 victory, which moves the team into the playoff positions.
Thame United Reserves returned to Meadow View Park at the weekend to take on Launton in the Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division. The tie was originally scheduled to be played at Launton, but due to bad weather, it was switched to Thame. It turned out to be a good day for the home side as they returned to winning ways with a 3-2 victory. Goals from James Bonwick, Jo Bennett, and Taylor Edward Goodby secured the win. The result moves Thame up to second in the table. However, they remain eight points behind leaders Brill United, who have played one game more.
Thame United B were in cup action in the first round of the Sheffield Jackman Cup. They traveled to Aylesbury to take on Division Two side Aylesbury Vale Dynamos Warriors. Goals from Ricky Blake and Jack Pember helped Thame secure a 3-2 win and progress to the second round.
In the Aylesbury and District League Division Two, Thame United C welcomed top-of-the-table Plough Penguins to Meadow View Park. It was a tough afternoon for the home side, with the visitors running out 4-1 winners to maintain their 100% record. Thame’s consolation goal was scored by Felix Horner.
Unfortunately, the weather deteriorated overnight on Saturday, leading to the postponement of matches for Thame Women and Thame Over-50s on Sunday due to poor conditions.
