13th October 2026
Following the success of Thame’s first hedgehog festival, Hogfest 2025, a new festival will celebrate owls and their role in the local ecosystem.
The festival will feature a free afternoon programme of children’s activities at Thame Barns Centre, running from 1.30pm to 5pm.
Activities will include owl biscuit decorating, owl food chain games with Thame Scouts, owl crafts, examining owl pellets and owl rescue stories from Tiggywinkles. Children will also have the chance to meet Heather the Hedgehog character.
No tickets are required for the children’s activities, and families can attend on the day.
An evening event for adults and older teenagers will begin at 7pm, featuring a seminar with Lu Barton from the Owl Conservation Project and visiting owls.
The evening programme will also include a mini poetry salon showcasing several entrants in the festival’s poetry competition.
Tickets for the evening event are available through Zeffy.
The festival is supported by sponsors BP Collins, Lucy Electric, Lightfoots, CAG Oxfordshire/Oxfordshire County Council and Haddenham Beer Festival.
Organisers are also seeking volunteers to help prepare for and run the event. Roles include running craft activities, baking owl biscuits, cutting out owl masks, contacting local businesses about raffle prizes, serving refreshments and selling raffle tickets.
