Thame Scouts is appealing for more adult volunteers to help meet increasing demand from local families and create more places for young people to join the organisation.
The group is encouraging adults from all walks of life to consider becoming Scout Leaders, stressing that no previous Scouting experience is needed. Full training and ongoing support are provided, allowing volunteers to develop new skills while helping deliver a varied programme for local children.
Across the UK, many Scout groups have waiting lists due to a shortage of volunteer leaders. By recruiting more adults, Thame Scouts hopes to expand its sections and offer more places to children who are keen to get involved.
Scouting provides young people with opportunities to develop confidence, resilience and teamwork through a wide range of activities. From camping and hiking to canoeing, climbing, navigation and community projects, members are encouraged to learn new skills while making friends and enjoying the outdoors.
As well as helping young people, volunteering with Scouts offers adults the chance to meet new people, give something back to the community and gain valuable leadership and organisational experience.
Parents can register children to join the waiting list from the age of five, ensuring they are considered for a place as soon as one becomes available.
