A local man named Ashley Roff, 24 from Thame has been ranked in the Official Strongman rankings at an unbelievable rank of No. 120. Ashley has been competing in Strongman for the last few years and has put in an incredible amount of hard work and dedication to the sport. Ashley has been smashing personal bests and beating other people's records since March this year.
Standing at 6'1 and over 120Kg, he competes in the men's open division in the UK. Strongman is a dangerous and difficult sport to compete in. Competitors lift, pull and push large amounts of weights until their bodies give out.
Strongman is not for the faint-hearted as you can seriously injure yourself if you're not careful, but you can also achieve amazing results within the sport.
Despite injuring his right hip, Ashley has still achieved his goal. Ashley said
"I have finally achieved what I've wanted to achieve for a long time. To be in the Official Strongman rankings is a crazy achievement, especially for someone like me. I'm a completely normal person who works in education. I just happen to be strong and I think my genetics play a huge part in that".
