Thame Jewellers Announces £4 Million Jewellery Sale

21st October 2024

Robert Gatward is one of Thame's most popular independent jewellers and has been delighting customers with beautiful, high-quality pieces since 1969. Today, owners Keith and Bridie Gill have announced the imminent closure of their store. The end of the sparkling era will be marked by a grand closing down sale, which will start at 9.30am on Saturday 26 October. All jewellery will be discounted by 50% including diamond rings, precious stone pieces, earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings.

Robert Gatward was established in Thame 55  years ago. The successful business was purchased by Keith and Bridie Gill in 1999 and has continued to trade from the same eye-catching 17th Century Grade II listed premises in the heart of the historic market town.

Bridie, who started to work in the jewellery sector over 40-years ago said, "It's a magical industry to work in and we have loved running this store, it's been wonderful."

Keith, a former restaurateur, who made the move into the jewellery business 27-years ago added, "I enjoy everything about this store, the customers, the staff, the happiness. We get to share such joyful occasions with our clients, and go on their life journey with them."

Robert Gatward is well known in the local area for unrivalled expertise when it comes to helping customers select the perfect piece of jewellery. Over the years, many customers have become more like friends to the entrepreneurial couple. Keith explains: "The closure of our Thame store really is the end of an era for Thame. Our customers will be gutted that we are closing the store. It's not been an easy decision to close the Thame store, but we believe it is the right decision. It's a conclusion that really has been reached with a heavy heart."

The popular independent jewellers will be closing its doors on Thame high street for the final time on Christmas Eve. Offering keen shoppers the opportunity to grab some spectacular jewellery bargains in time for Christmas.

Said Bridie: "We have an abundance of stock totalling over £4 million. All of the jewellery will be discounted by 50%, including engagement rings, wedding bands, coloured stone pieces and pearls. There are some exceptional bargains to be had."

Added Keith: "There will also be substantial discounts on all of our watch stock too. We're looking forward to meeting customers old and new, as they come along and take advantage of these once in a lifetime prices and shop at Robert Gatward, Thame for the final time. We are expecting to be busy throughout the sale, so we're advising customers that once the sale starts, we unfortunately won't be able to hold onto any pieces."

The Robert Gatward Thame closing down sale will start at 9.30am on Saturday 26th October. All jewellery will be discounted by 50% including diamond rings and diamond jewellery, coloured stone pieces, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, pearls and silver items. All pieces will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis and the closing down sale will last until stock is sold.
