Thame Cricket Club's appeal for Sri Lanka

TTCC is supporting a charitable venture aimed at bringing medical supplies, which are in critically-short supply, to children and families in Sri Lanka during the country’s worst economic crisis since independence.

This supply route has been researched and recommended by our own Manil Subesinghe, himself a regular figure in the club’s 2nd & 3rd XIs, who is a Consultant Radiologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospitals in London and whose family originally hails from Sri Lanka.

This fundraising has been set up by Mayoni Byrne, also of Sri Lankan descent, who is a former NHS surgeon and is committed to sourcing crucial medical supplies for supply to paediatric units in Sri Lanka, through the auspices of the charity 'Their Future Today', without any involvement by government agencies.

If you would like to donate something towards this fantastic cause, please go to this Justgiving page  HERE. Every sum, small or large, will bring much-needed help to hospital patients in dire need and you can giftaid that sum, if you pay any UK tax, thereby boosting your donation by 25%!

TTCC is proud to have built a well-established link to Sri Lankan cricket over recent years. We welcomed Gami Kanishka, as our overseas player in 2017/2018 and currently we are lucky to have both Dinushka Malan – known as “Dinny” – as our 1st XI overseas player and Harshani Malan – known as “Harshi” – his wife, in the women’s team, with both of them playing invaluable roles in the success of their teams.

Death Cafe @ Thame Barns Centre
You are warmly invited to attend Death Cafe in Thame. at 7:30pm in room 1 of the Barns Centre, and held on the third Thursday of each month thereafter A Death Cafe is an informal gathering where people can discuss death over tea and cake. We’re aiming to normalise the topic of death, raise acceptance, and help people make the most of their lives by breaking the taboo around mortality. It is not a grief support group or counselling session. These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space. Death Cafe is run on a not-for-profit basis but if you are able to make…
