Have you ever wanted a street named after someone in your family? There is currently an opportunity to make that happen as South Oxfordshire District Council are looking for suggestions of two street names for the upcoming development of 6 homes between Thame Park Road and Robin Gibb Road, approved under planning application P19/S1596/FUL. This development will adjoin the Persimmon development (‘Site D’) where streets have been named after well-known Thamenesians, such as Henry Blyth, George Edsell, Robin Gibb, Andrew Markus, and Leonard Purser.
So, continuing that theme, if you would like to suggest a name please email [email protected] or contact the Town Council by Tuesday 18 October. The Town Council’s Planning and Environment Committee will be considering the names at a meeting that evening, and making a recommendation to SODC.
There are no set criteria, but the following is advisable:
- The name must not already be used in a street name in Thame
- The person must have a strong connection and/or made a significant contribution to Thame
- The Town Council will need to seek permission from the family before the name can be put forward to SODC.
