Thame Runners organise the annual Thame 10k road race and each year the committee allocates profits from the race to Thame charities. Back in 2018 money was allocated to preserve, protect and restore some of the sculptures on the Phoenix Trail. Sustrans have also provided funding for materials to restore the sculptures with volunteers from local Sustrans, Risborough Environmental Group and Thame Runners providing the labour.
This was the 2nd half mile marker to have fallen over this year, with the wood rotting at the base and also bits of the top and side missing. Thame Runners would like to thank Briants of Longwick for donating the wood for Richard Hammond to restore the sculpture with a lick of protective varnish and some post concrete so that we can all enjoy this artwork for many more years
