Need Access Permits for the September Fair?

22nd August 2024

Residents and businesses in the High Street, Upper High Street, Buttermarket and Cornmarket are reminded that now is the time to apply for access permits for the duration of the September Fair from the Town Hall.

The Fair opens in 4 weeks on Thursday 19 September, however the following road closures will come into force on Wednesday 18 September:

7.00am - North Street, Wellington Street, and Southern Road
4.00pm - The Cornmarket, Upper High Street, and High Street

Access will only be permitted by means of a permit which will be available to:

Residents who can prove that there is unrestricted off-road parking within the grounds of their property, and

Businesses with off-street parking who confirm that all vehicles will always be on private property.

The temporary road closures will remain in place until 12 noon on Sunday 22 September. This will restrict the entry of vehicles into the centre of Thame and parking will not be allowed on the highway, including pavements.

Town Centre bus stops will be closed throughout the period, while the taxi rank will be re-located to North Street.

We'll have more details in the coming weeks.

You are warmly invited to attend Death Cafe in Thame. at 7:30pm in room 1 of the Barns Centre, and held on the third Thursday of each month thereafter A Death Cafe is an informal gathering where people can discuss death over tea and cake. We’re aiming to normalise the topic of death, raise acceptance, and help people make the most of their lives by breaking the taboo around mortality. It is not a grief support group or counselling session. These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space. Death Cafe is run on a not-for-profit basis but if you are able to make…
