Mixed Weekend Results for Thame United Teams

17th December 2024

Thame United travelled to Bedfordshire to take on Barton Rovers in the Pitching In Southern League Central Division One. Thame faced an early setback, going down to 10 men after Ollie Hogg was sent off for two yellow cards in the 38th minute. Despite fighting hard, Barton opened the scoring in the 58th minute. Credit goes to the 10 men of Thame, who were the better side in the second half but conceded a second goal in the 88th minute through a contentious penalty and a third with the last kick of the game.

Meanwhile, Thame United Reserves enjoyed a successful afternoon in the Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division, defeating Chalgrove Cavaliers 5–1 at the ASM Stadium to complete the season double over their opponents. Two goals each from Taylor Edward Goodby and Matt Johnson, alongside one from Kaiyun Reeves, secured the points. With Kennington not in action, the win moves Thame into a clear second place, just one point behind Brill, who suffered a surprise home defeat.

In the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 2, Thame United A travelled to Taplow United, where the home side triumphed 3–1. Ashley Moakes scored Thame’s lone goal, but the result saw the team drop one place to fifth in the table.

In the Aylesbury and District League Division Two, Thame United B visited Rivets Sports FC in Stone. Earlier this season, Thame had claimed a 5–0 victory against Rivets at Meadow View Park, but this time the tables were turned as the home side earned a 4–2 win. Late goals from William Holman and Felix Horner provided some consolation for Thame. The defeat leaves them ninth in the standings, with 12 points from 10 games.
