Lucy Electric’s leadership team collaborated with John Hampden School for a special initiative to create a sensory garden for the pupils. The garden, which was cleared by Lucy Electric last year had been used by a few year groups since for growing strawberries and rhubarb. It’s now been repurposed to provide a serene and nurturing space for children, particularly those who need respite in nature.
The team dug up the planters, painted them and replenished with fresh topsoil, the highlight of the day was the active participation of the children. The schools eco group came down to help with the planting, eager and full of enthusiasm, they joined the Lucy Electric staff in planting a diverse range of flowers and plants within the newly prepared beds.
The collaborative effort between the Lucy Electric team and the students was not only productive but very enjoyable.
With the perfect weather adding to the cheerful atmosphere. Together, they created an environment that would not only provide sensory experiences but also foster a connection with nature.

Over the past couple of years the collaboration between John Hampden Primary School and Lucy Electric has gone from strength to strength. 21st Century Thame are keen to find more businesses who would be looking to work closely with one of the local schools to help the school enhance the environmental learning for the children.
