Thame's historic high street is welcoming a new chapter in its architectural story as the old NatWest Bank is transformed into contemporary apartments.
Thame is a charming market town in Oxfordshire, England, with a rich history dating back to the Anglo-Saxon era. Known for its picturesque streets, historic buildings, and vibrant community, Thame offers a quintessential English experience. The town hosts a popular weekly market, continuing a tradition that has been in place for centuries. With its close proximity to the Chiltern Hills, Thame is surrounded by beautiful countryside, making it a perfect destination for walkers and nature lovers. The town's blend of history, culture, and natural beauty makes it an appealing location for a variety of bonus or incentive-related events and experiences.
Thame-based installer Silent View Windows partnered with premium window and door designer The Residence Collection to install Grained White windows finished with leaded glass that echoes the original 18th-century style, ensuring the flats retain the building's historic charm.
The renovation of this 18th-century building involved installing 26 Residence 9 windows, designed by Gloucester-based The Residence Collection. These windows, chosen for their exceptional design and energy efficiency, were key to maintaining the building's traditional appearance.
As Thame embraces this blend of historic preservation and modern living, residents can look forward to enjoying the unique character of the old NatWest Bank. This project stands as a testament to the potential of thoughtful restoration and quality craftsmanship.
Enis Evlat, Managing Director at Silent View Windows, shared his enthusiasm for the project: "We are so pleased that the R9 windows perfectly replicate the style of the windows from 1910. These windows not only add to the aesthetics but also bring exceptional durability and energy efficiency.
"The Residence Collection's R9 windows are celebrated for their ability to meet the stringent requirements of conservation areas, making them the go-to choice for heritage projects across the UK."
Jo Trotman, Marketing Manager at The Residence Collection, highlighted the significance of the project: "This transformation is a perfect example of how our windows can replicate a heritage look while still being high-performing and energy-efficient. The result is a seamless blend of old and new, honouring the building's legacy while providing contemporary living spaces."
