Great British Bake-Off Stars Shined at Thame Food Festival this Weekend

Yet again, Thame Food Festival became a foodies destination this weekend.  There were over 120 artisan and street food producers, several demonstrations featuring celebrity chefs and bakers including previous winners – Syabira Yusoff and Giuseppe Dell’Anno, live music and more.

Also joining Syabira and Giuseppe on stage from the Great British Bake-Off alumini were Steven Carter-Bailey, Jurgen Kraus, Janusz Domagala and David Atherton. The Big Cookery Stage also played host to demonstrations from Alex Hollywood and Paula McIntyre who is often seen on Irish television and writes a regular cooking column. Within the Festival Village visitors were taken on a food journey with a series of Masterclasses enabling them to get up, close and personal with producers.

Delicious samplings and tastings were freely available from an enticing mix of local charcuterie, cheeses, breads through to brownies, ice cream, gin, beer, cider and vodka in the Artisan Market. And those hungry for more headed off to the Street Food area which served up treats from around the World including Wagu Burgers, Caribbean, Tibetan and South African street food to BBQ, Crispy Duck and Pizzas.

Additional features included Festival on Fire sharing how to use seasonings and sauces to take your BBQ to another level, alongside wood carving demonstrations. The beautiful shopping marquee was filled to the brim with home delights to buy.  Adding to the ambience and festival vibe was the live music stage by Thame Music Academy with lots of activities for the kids including free Circus Skills, face painting, bubbles and archery and a series of fun Dog Shows.

Integral to the whole event was the incredible support of our sponsors including Lightfoots, Columbs, Connect Scaffolding, Nourish Box, Humble Country, Wellers, Lynn Palmer Architects and FestivAles.

Lotte Duncan, Patron and organiser of the event says, “Now the bunting has come down, we can reflect on what has been an amazing event! Yet again, we are proud to be able to support over 120 independent artisan producers and street food vendors and give them an opportunity to showcase how brilliant their products are.

This year has been a real labour of love and we could not have achieved it without an amazing team of volunteers and of course the thousands of people who flocked to join us over the two days. And of course, our amazing sponsors. We would really like more sponsors for next year to make the event even more exciting, so do get in touch andthank you for coming and supporting us!”

You are warmly invited to attend Death Cafe in Thame. at 7:30pm in room 1 of the Barns Centre, and held on the third Thursday of each month thereafter A Death Cafe is an informal gathering where people can discuss death over tea and cake. We’re aiming to normalise the topic of death, raise acceptance, and help people make the most of their lives by breaking the taboo around mortality. It is not a grief support group or counselling session. These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space. Death Cafe is run on a not-for-profit basis but if you are able to make…
