At around 17:40 Saturday evening, five fire crews from Thame Fire Station and wider responded to an emergency call regarding a thatch fire at a property in Thame.
On arrival, a significant incident was in progress and immediately increased to 10 appliances until at the height of the incident there were 12 fire engines and two aerial platforms in attendance. Firefighters wearing BA (breathing apparatus) worked to extinguish and stop the fire spreading whilst salvaging contents from within. Part of this process includes removing as much of the thatch and the neighbouring tiled roof as required, to remove fuel and create access.
Crews from across Oxfordshire , Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service and Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service attended including officers and specialist aerial vehicles, command units and others. We would like to thank our over the counties colleagues for their support in this incident.
Firefighters and the emergency services have been in attendance throughout the night. Thames Valley Police and three fire engines and crews are still at the property.

Road closures have been put in place on the corner of High Street and Priest End, they are expected to be in place most of the morning until a temporary traffic light system will be put in place.
