Unfortunately, the mature Black Poplar Hybrid tree in the middle of Churchill Crescent play area has had to be felled. The Town Council has been monitoring the tree since 2020 when it showed early signs of disease.
During the last few weeks, the health of the tree trunk had deteriorated rapidly and following professional arboriculture advice, the Town Council took the sad decision to fell the tree. The decision was not taken lightly and both members and officers at the Town Council are sad to see such a lovely mature tree, which has been part of Thame’s history removed.
However, it provides an opportunity to plant some new trees in the area and in due course the Town Council will be seeking the views of nearby residents as to what trees they would like to see planted.
