Chef Andon Andonov Takes the Helm at The Crown Inn Sydenham

20th August 2024

The Crown Inn Sydenham has announced the arrival of Andon Andonov as its new landlord and head chef. Andon, a celebrated chef originally from Bulgaria, brings a wealth of experience and a passion for culinary excellence to this beloved local pub.

Andon moved to the UK 15 years ago, following a successful career in the hospitality industry in Bulgaria, where he hosted the popular TV cookery program "Cooking with Andon Andonov" in 2010. Since his arrival in the UK, Andon has honed his skills in various esteemed hotels and restaurants, most recently at The Lord Nelson Hotel in Milford Haven, where he earned a stellar reputation for the quality of his food and service.

Taking over The Crown at Sydenham marks a significant milestone in Andon's career. He is thrilled to utilise his extensive experience to develop the pub into a vibrant community hub. "My family and I are deeply grateful for the warm welcome we have received from the local community. I am excited to bring my passion for great food to The Crown Inn and to welcome guests from both near and far. In addition to supporting local events, we aspire to become a renowned destination for exceptional food and drinks, known for our friendly and inviting atmosphere," Andon said

The Crown has undergone numerous improvements under Andon's leadership, both inside and out. The beer garden now boasts ample seating in a safe and inviting environment for both drinkers and diners. Inside, patrons can expect a warm and welcoming atmosphere, complemented by exceptional service and high-quality food.

Andon is particularly passionate about food quality and is eager to provide guests with an unforgettable dining experience. The menu will feature classic British dishes alongside a selection of other European cuisines, showcasing Andon's diverse culinary expertise.

The Crown is committed to being an integral part of the Sydenham community. Andon and his family have received a warm welcome since their arrival and are enthusiastic about supporting local events such as the Village Fayre and the Aunt Sally Team, who play in the local league.

The Crown is open six days a week, serving both lunch and dinner. For more information on opening times, the menu and online booking, please visit the pub's website at www.crownsydenham.co.uk.
