27th September 2024
Lea Park Residents’ Association is expecting a good turnout on Sunday (29 September) for their protest against the Moorend Land development application (MW.0163/22).
Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) is considering Moorend Lane as a location for a permanent aggregate and soil recycling facility, directly behind the sewerage works.
The Lea Park Residents’ Association fears that the concrete crushing facility, using heavy machinery for breaking down aggregate materials, will create:
- noise and dust contamination to nearby properties and the local football pitches;
- a poor environment for young people and parents using the skate park; and
- a constant daily flow of slow HGV traffic in and out of Moorend Lane and on the bypass (Tythrop Way/A4129).
Local MP for Henley and Thame, Freddie van Mierlo has said he will attend Sunday’s protest, and the Association is calling on residents to do the same, and to sign the petition against the planning application.
The protest is scheduled to start at 10.30am on Sunday 29 September at the Skate Park.
