A418 Thame Bypass- Carriageway Resurfacing

28th March 2024

Oxfordshire County Council will be undertaking carriageway maintenance and resurfacing work to the A418 Thame Bypass between the B4011 Services Roundabout and the A329 Rycote Lane Roundabout.

The works are programmed to start on Wednesday 15th May 2024 and are expected to last for 8 overnight shifts during the working week, subject to any bad weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances arising during construction.

Works will include ironwork adjustments and the resurfacing / patching of the existing carriageway, following which all existing and legal road markings and lines will be reinstated.

Traffic Management

In order to keep traffic disruption to a minimum, the works will be carried out under eight consecutive overnight full road closures from 2000-0600hrs. No works will be carried out over the weekend of 18th / 19th May 2024.  The A418 Thame Bypass will be fully reopened outside of these hours and a fully signed local diversion route will be put in place for the scheme duration.

Gatemen / Traffic Marshals will be positioned at either end of the closure to direct traffic and pedestrians to ensure the safety of the public and workforce during working hours. We ask that you give them your full support and heed their advice whether you are a pedestrian, cyclist, or motorist.

A 40mph speed restriction will be implemented around the A418 Thame Bypass for the duration of the works.  This will remain in place for safety reasons between consecutive shifts and over the weekend of 18th / 19th May 2024.
