Chinnor Cricket Club has proudly recognised one of its most loyal and influential members, Brian Fagan, for an extraordinary 60 years of service to the club
On Monday 12th October 2026, Club Chairman Tim Anning visited Brian at Stoke Mandeville Hospital to personally present him with a special award commemorating six decades of remarkable dedication, loyalty and commitment to Chinnor Cricket Club.
Brian's journey with the club began back in 1966, and few individuals can claim to have contributed so much to a local sporting institution.
From player and captain to groundsman, umpire and now Club President, Brian has quite literally done it all.
Taking on groundsman duties around 1970, Brian dedicated countless evenings to maintaining the club's facilities, spending so much time at the ground that his wife Beverley once joked about buying him a hammock so he could sleep in the machinery shed!
Brian captained various club sides from the 1970s, remarkably continuing as captain until the age of 69. He continued playing until he was 74 before turning his attention to umpiring, ensuring his involvement in the game never stopped.
His commitment was recognised in 1988 when he was named Clubman of the Year, and in 2023 he was elected Club President, a fitting honour for someone who has given so much.
But Brian's contribution goes far beyond runs scored, wickets taken or matches played.
Through changing generations, challenging periods and the evolution of grassroots cricket, Brian has remained a constant presence. His determination, hard work and unwavering loyalty have played a pivotal role in ensuring Chinnor Cricket Club has not only survived but continues to operate and provide cricket for the local community today.
Quite simply, without people like Brian Fagan, clubs like ours would not exist.
Although Brian was sadly unable to attend the club's upcoming annual Dinner and Dance due to his current hospital stay, it was important that this special milestone was recognised in person.
60 years. Six decades. Generations of cricketers. One incredible club servant.
On behalf of everyone at Chinnor Cricket Club, past and present, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Brian for everything he has done.
We also extend our warmest wishes to Brian and his family and wish him well in his recovery.
Thank you, Brian. Chinnor Cricket Club owes you an enormous debt of gratitude, and your legacy will continue for generations to come.
🏏 Once a Chinnor man, always a Chinnor man.
