After an unbeaten weekend for the club last time out, the 1st XI travelled to Bicester & North Oxford in a relegation scrap. Thame batted first and struggled to 31-5. Alex Browne top-scored with 23, while the lower order contributed, but Thame ended 110 all out. Dinny Malan (3-30) took early wickets alongside Captain Hassam Mushtaq (2-32), however from there the 6th wicket partnership took Bicester & North Oxford to the win. Thame slip to bottom and host 7th Stoke Green next, looking for a much needed win.
Thame 2nd XI hosted Bledlow Ridge at Church Meadow and were asked to bat. Thame reached 40 before losing the 2nd wicket, but wickets fell regularly from there. Jake Wilkinson (26) was the mainstay in 119 all out. Pete Tervet took 2-20 as 3 of Bledlow’s top 4 were out for ducks. A strong 4th wicket partnership then took the visitors most of the way to a 5 wicket win. Bledlow overtake Thame into 5th. The team go to 2nd placed Waddesdon next.
Fresh from a first win of the season, the 3rd XI hosted league leaders Chinnor and were invited to bat. Chairman Tim Dabbs opened with 38, before a collapse that saw the last 7 wickets lost for 17 runs in 75 all out. Nick Humphries (2-26) removed both openers, but a strong Chinnor side were able to take a 6 wicket win. Sitting 2nd bottom, the 3s next go to 4th placed local rivals Haddenham.
The 4s travelled to Waddesdon 3. Thame chose to bowl, and this proved to be a good choice when Will Littlewood (3-19) and Trevor Spindler (2-18) had the hosts in trouble at 35-6. A frustrating partnership of 60 brought Waddesdon back into the game, before Captain Ed Mather (4-35) finished off the tail. Chasing 138, Charlie Anderson (56*) opened and took the team to a brilliant victory by 8 wickets. The 4th XI move up to 7th and host 5th placed Oxenford 3 next.
After a weekend off, Thame Women returned to league action away at Binfield. After being asked to bat, Harshi Malan (37) and Megs Woodward (22) provided the strongest performances at the top, but nobody else could get going thereafter in 101 all out. Malan (3-24) and Leanne Harris (2-21) gave Thame a great start at 5-3, but they couldn’t build on it and Binfield reached target for the loss of 6 wickets. Placed 6th, the team host 5th placed Charlbury at Church Meadow on Sunday.
