Floral fundraiser supporting local hospice care

6th June 2024

Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity is holding another fantastic floral fundraiser this summer and has six beautiful local gardens for you to explore in Chinnor, Oving, Haddenham and Aylesbury, all to help raise money to support the future of local hospice care, from now until July.

After a successful Open Garden fundraising event last year which raised over £5,000, the Charity is encouraging people to visit their local Open Gardens once again. Bill Richards, the Charity’s Community Fundraiser told us, “Last year we had a great response to our Open Garden events. We’d love for local communities to come together and support this year’s floral fundraiser. Thank you to all the residents who are kindly opening up their gardens this summer to raise funds for the Hospice.”

This year's Open Gardens include –

  • Oving Open Gardens - Sunday 9th June, 2pm-5pm
  • Haddenham Open Gardens - Sunday 23rd June, 2pm-6pm
  • Masonic Care Home Open Gardens, Aylesbury - Sunday 23rd June, 2pm-5pm
  • Secret Gardens, Aylesbury - Sunday 23rd June, 2pm
  • Poplar Grove Practice’s Memorial Garden Open Gardens – Sunday 30th June, 1pm - 4pm
  • Watermead Open Gardens, Sunday 7th July, 11am - 5pm

You are warmly invited to attend Death Cafe in Thame. at 7:30pm in room 1 of the Barns Centre, and held on the third Thursday of each month thereafter A Death Cafe is an informal gathering where people can discuss death over tea and cake. We’re aiming to normalise the topic of death, raise acceptance, and help people make the most of their lives by breaking the taboo around mortality. It is not a grief support group or counselling session. These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space. Death Cafe is run on a not-for-profit basis but if you are able to make…
