Please see the below from Chinnor Rugby Club:
The minis kicked off proceedings on a particularly cold and damp morning at Kingsey Road. A timetable of meticulously planned activities kept their spirits high and hands warm.
The Men’s 1st team embarked on a maiden voyage in the bright red open top bus not knowing who would brave the freezing conditions. Those concerns were very soon settled as the residents of Chinnor, Sydenham, Towersey and Thame came out in their masses to cheer on their team and grab a glimpse of the National One champions trophy.
The reception by at the club by all the minis and parents won’t ever be forgotten by this wonderful squad of players. Chinnor on Fire on repeat rang out throughout the day. The players and coaches were extremely grateful for the support and throughout the season.
The drama continued back on the pitch where the Kites were hosting Birmingham Moseley in a relegation decider. The opposition must have wondered what they’d walked into with the music playing, funfair in full swing and cars abandoned in all corners of place.
The Kites with a huge crowd behind them played magnificently throughout and leading 14-10 going into the last 5 minutes their hopes dashed by a late Moseley try. A mixture of emotions followed the final whistle, but the overwhelming feeling was immense pride from all the supporters.
It’s been an incredible season and one to live long in the memories of so many people. Kingsey Road has hit some new heights and welcomed more people than ever before. Yesterday delivered on so many fronts.
Enjoy the off season. The preparations for the 2024/25 season have already started and offers of help are much appreciated. There’s lots to do but if Sunday was anything to go by then we’ll be in a good place come September and beyond.
Thank you for the continued support and encouragement. Thank you to our inspirational coaches and volunteers across the club. We are a members club held up by a huge base of wonderful volunteers. Congratulations on a magnificent season.
One club. One community.
