Aladdin is a classic in the pantomime repertoire, originating in the stories of the Arabian Nights and handed down from generation to generation ever since. It tells the story of Aladdin’s gallant efforts to stop the wicked Abanazar from stealing the magic lamp that contains the all-powerful Genie, so that he can rule the world. Will he succeed? Aladdin, the laundry boy Wishee Washee, and Aladdin’s mother the washerwoman Widow Twankey are all out to foil Abanazar’s evil scheme, aided and abetted by Princess Jasmine, her father the Emperor of China, and a whole cast of comic characters – oh, and not forgetting the Spirit of the Ring and a magic carpet!
