‘Thame and the River’ – Unique Tribute to Market Town
On Saturday the 3rd February 2024, Celtic Heartbeat will present for the first time, their collection of songs based on Thame, its river, and surrounding villages.
Over the years, the six members of this well-known local group have grown to love and appreciate their beautiful, ancient market town and want to celebrate its history in music and pictures. Celtic Heartbeat’s music is rooted in the folk tradition of telling stories – some old, some new and some reimagined - but in a more contemporary style.
For this project, they look back at Thame’s history. While preparing for the event, they have discovered the part the river has played, the town’s role in wartime and in peacetime and more about some of its local historic characters.
The band has already released some of their latest collection from their forthcoming CD, ‘Thame and the River’ on social media. The album, featuring all of their latest songs, will be released online and on CD in December. This follows their previous albums, ‘A Right Song and Dance’ and ‘Coming Home on the Tide’.
Celtic Heartbeat’s founder, Jim Greenhough, says, ‘The band is delighted to be celebrating our premiere in the heart of our local community. It has been our privilege to plan this musical event and we are all looking forward to what we hope will be a wonderful celebration. Tickets are selling, so we are delighted our idea seems to be resonating within the community. Our audience should be ready to laugh, cry and take huge pride in this great town together.’
