The drought seemed a distant memory this past Saturday, as all 4 of our teams saw their matches abandoned. The 1st XI at Chesham did not even see a ball bowled – they are placed 6th, and have eyes on 5th, as they finish the season versus 7th Horspath at Church Meadow next week.
Thame 2s were 111-7 at home to Aston Rowant 3, with Harry Thomas on 45* when the match was abandoned. With all other matches abandoned in the division, the equation next week is simple; with the 2s in 8th and 4 points above Buckingham Town 2, a win away at 5th Bletchley Town will secure survival.
The 3rd XI managed nearly 2 hours of play away at Wolvercote 4, with Joe Phippen 31 not out at 100-6 when the heavens opened. Almost 100% guaranteed a 4th-placed finish, the 3s host Chinnor 2 on the final day, with our neighbours looking for a win to secure promotion.
At Lord Williams’ School, the 4th XI title quest was also cut short by rain with Chairman Tim Dabbs (59*) leading the charge at 103-2. 9 points ahead of Gully 2 at the top, Thame next go to bottom side Chearsley 3, looking to secure the Division 9D title!
On Sunday, with clearer skies, Thame Women took on Ickenham at Church Meadow, in a friendly designed to give the less experienced a good go at hard-ball action! Annabel Lord picked up 2-20, while familiar face Harshi Wijerathna came on later to take 3-2 in 157-9 from the 30 overs. Thame reached 59-4 before Wijerathna‘s 59, supported in the main by Ava Gabriele‘s 16, took Thame close in 136 all out. Secure in 7thplace in the league, the team host 6th Oxford on Sunday.
