Chinnor RFC Thame is asking for volunteers and donations to support their free meals service for local residents during the pandemic and beyond. Starting on Tuesday 23 February the club will provide a nutritious, freshly prepared evening meal twice a week.
Through Thame Town Council, Thame Good Neighbour Scheme, Age UK and Thame Senior Friendship Centre, residents who would benefit from this service have been identified and deliveries will either contain a warm meal for the family which can be eaten that evening, or a chilled meal which can be reheated in a microwave or conventional oven. The meals will be delivered by volunteers on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 4.00 - 6.00pm.
Chinnor RFC Thame President, John Ashfield, said: 'We now find ourselves in a position to say thank you to our community who have supported the club so strongly since the start of the pandemic. We are launching an initiative to deliver meals to the people who have been identified as requiring them and we are pleased to be able to support our community in this way. We can only hope this will be of benefit to people in our local area. This will be to our cost and will be delivered by volunteers to residents in both Thame and Chinnor as we start the process. We would now like to ask people for their help with volunteering to deliver meals and donations, with every penny received going to this project.
