Vaccines updates from Rycote Practice

This year approximately 4500 patients of The Rycote Practice are eligible for a free flu vaccination as it is being offered to everyone over the age of 50. We are initially prioritising patients over the age of 65 and those in clinically at-risk groups – so far over 2500 patients have received a flu vaccination from us or a local pharmacy or hospital.
Thank you to all patients who have shown patience and understanding following delays to our seasonal flu vaccine deliveries. We have now received further supplies of flu vaccines and hope to complete vaccinations for all patients over the age of 65 and in at risk groups (under the age of 65) in the coming 4 weeks. Later in November we will be inviting patient aged 50 – 64 (not otherwise at risk).

We are also offering nasal flu vaccinations to 2 and 3 year olds as well as other children under the age of 18 who are clinically at risk. Please note that school age children from reception class to year 11 will be offered nasal flu vaccinations at school – we are unable to vaccinate these age groups in the practice.
If you fall into any of the above groups and have not yet received your vaccine (or declined) you will receive a text message or a phone call from us. Please call 01844 267935 to book your jab. If lines are busy please leave your name and telephone number and we will call you back.

We are also offering a Covid booster to all patients over the age of 50 (we well as younger patients who are clinically at risk) who are more than 6 months since their second dose. Where possible we are trying to administer these together with the flu jab. However patients who are not due their Covid booster until later in the year can book their flu vaccination now and receive their Covid booster later. Immunosuppressed patients who are eligible for a third primary vaccination prior to their booster can receive it 8 weeks after their second Covid dose – these patients will then be eligible for a booster 6 months later.

We currently have seasonal flu and Covid booster clinics on the morning of Saturday 30 October and on the afternoon of Thursday 18 November. We will shortly be adding further dates in November.
