Vaccines update from Rycote Practice

Thank you to all patients who attended our Flu and Covid Booster clinic on Saturday 9 October. Arriving exactly at your appointment time and wearing clothing that made arms easily accessible ensured that we were able to run an efficient clinic and avoided long queues. Thank you also to those who chose to walk rather than drive as this helped to ensure that the car park was not too busy.

The Rycote Practice is expecting to receive further flu deliveries next week. We are focussing on Over 65s in the first instance and are prioritising patients who are due their Covid booster (3rd dose) in October – those who had their second dose in April. If you fall into this category, please call the practice to book on 01844 261066. We have further vaccination clinics planned on the morning of Saturday 16 October, the afternoon of Tuesday 19 October and the morning of Saturday 30 October. Those who are less than 5 months since their second Covid vaccination will be offered the flu vaccination and the Covid booster at a later stage.

We are also seeking clarification on deliveries of flu vaccines for under 65 years at risk and those in need of a third primary Covid vaccination. We have a small number of vaccines that we can offer to these patients at our upcoming clinics and will be providing information about further vaccination appointments as soon as we are able to.

As your local GP Practice, we would strongly encourage you to receive both a seasonal flu vaccination and a Covid booster as soon as you can. Locally Covid infection rates are currently at 75% of the January peak – we are confident that these vaccinations will offer you excellent protection against both of these dangerous illnesses.

Thank you for your support and cooperation – this vaccination programme requires considerable additional commitment from our staff and you words of encouragement are greatly appreciated.
