We’re really sorry if you still have no water or low pressure following a large burst pipe on the Oxford Ring Road.
We’ve completed repairs overnight but technical difficulties mean the supply network is taking longer to refill than we’d expected – we anticipate things should be back to normal this evening.
In addition to the bottled water stations that we opened yesterday, we also have a fourth site running in Thame.
Our repair work
Around 1am our engineers successfully repaired the burst section of pipe, near the Heyford Hill roundabout on the Oxford Ring Road.
We are now in the process of refilling the reservoirs. To ensure the pipe network remains stable we have to do this at a steady pace and our current estimate is for supplies to return by this evening today. Customers in lower areas will see their supplies restored before those in higher areas.
Where can you get water?
We have four bottled water stations open at:
- Cattle Market car park, North Street, Thame OX9 3FP
- Tesco in Ambassador Avenue, Oxford OX4 6XJ
- Asda in London Road, Wheatley, Oxford OX33 1YZ
- Horspath Cricket Club, Oxford Road, Horspath, Oxford OX33 1RT (on foot only)
All of the bottled water stations except from the cricket club are open to vehicles as well as visitors on foot. If you drive there, we can load water into your vehicle.
These supplies are for essential use, like drinking, cooking and hand washing. Please be considerate and don’t take more than you need.
We’re also working with local authorities to support priority customers, such as households in vulnerable circumstances, schools and farms with livestock. If you have a neighbour who is in a vulnerable situation, please check in on them.
Traffic disruption
We’d also like to apologise to drivers affected by traffic disruption. You can find more information on Oxfordshire County Council’s website.
This disruption will unfortunately continue until at least the weekend and possibly into early next week.
Thank you for your patience while we work to get things back to normal. We’ll provide more news here as soon as we have further information.
