We want to provide you with an update into our investigation into a fatal road traffic collision on the A40 west of Oxford on Monday.

Following a fatal road traffic collision on the A40 west of Oxford on Monday (12/10), officers are providing the following brief update.
The collision occurred at around 9.50pm on Monday when a silver Subaru Outback was in collision with a white heavy goods’ vehicle on the railway overbridge just to the west of Oxford.
Senior investigating officer Sergeant Dominic Mahon, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based at Bicester, said: “We are still investigating the cause of this tragic collision which has resulted in the deaths of four people from the same family, a 29-year-old woman, an eight-year-old girl, a six-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl, all from Chinnor.
“We are able to update on the condition of the two other injured people, a 30-year-old man and an 18-month old girl.
“Although their conditions are still serious, they are showing signs of improvement and are expected to make a recovery.
“No-one has been arrested in connection with this investigation, and the driver of the HGV has co-operated fully with our investigation throughout, providing a witness statement to officers.
“I would like to re-iterate my comment from yesterday to please not speculate as to the cause of this tragic collision. To do so would be extremely distressing for the families, and will not assist our investigation in any way.
“However, I would still appeal for anybody who believes that they witnessed this collision and have not yet contacted police to please do so by calling 101 or making a report online, quoting reference number 43200321914.
“I am particularly keen to hear from anybody with dash-cam footage to please get in touch if it has captured anything that can help this investigation.
“Formal identification of all of the victims has not yet been confirmed, and we are not yet in a position to do so, but will update as soon as we are able to.
“I would ask for the privacy of all involved in this tragedy to please be respected at what is an incredibly traumatic time.”
