Alight here for hilarity – The Unbound Sketchbook team are back on the road with a brand-new plethora of pages from its mighty book of comedy sketches, and their hilarious ‘Mind the Gap’ tour will be stopping off at the Players Theatre in Thame on Friday 8th April.
Blending witty wordplay with rib-ticking physical comedy and mirthful music, The Unbound Sketchbook is the perfect night out for comedy fans. Sketches include a look at what happens when you challenge Death to a game of chess, a chance to meet music hall double-act Pasties & Cake, and an explanation of why you really should Mind the Gap on train station platforms.
Along the way there’ll be a trip to a Creation Focus Group, and unsettling exploration of what happens when the rules of fishing are applied to land animals, and a toe-tapping job interview with a barbershop quartet.
The Unbound Sketchbook formed in 2016. With six shows of original material to their name, plus two tours and their own podcast, the team have received great acclaim on the touring circuit, with appearances at the Exeter, Watford and Camden Fringe Festivals in recent years.
“We’re delighted to be bringing the Sketchbook team back out and about this year,” says the show’s producer and co-writer Dario Knight. “It’s been a long wait to get on the road again but we can’t wait to meet new audiences with this laugh-out-loud sketch show.”
“Spanning a variety of comedic styles, the teams sketches explore everything from the beauty and hilarity of everyday life, to surreal takes of familiar situations, and even a bit of moral philosophy. More than anything, it's a night the celebrate being able to laugh together again. Come and shrug off your troubles for an hour so, and leave feeling a little more light-hearted (and probably humming the Barbershop Coffee Shop song...)”
The Sketchbook are part of Unbound Theatre, the award-winning resident storytelling company at Queens Park Arts Centre in Aylesbury. Since launching in 2014, Unbound have worked on more than 100 theatre, film, and audio projects spanning new writing, contemporary plays, Shakespeare, pantomime, rehearsed readings, improvisation and audio drama.
“Part of Unbound’s mission statement is to bring quality theatre to as wide an audience as possible,” says Dario. “The Sketchbook team have done great work reaching new audiences across the country, and their latest tour is something very special indeed.
