This Friday at Chinnor Rugby Club another thrilling game - Friday Night Lights

8th February 2024

This Friday evening, 9th February, sees Chinnor playing Rosslyn Park in another exciting Friday Night Lights match with kick off at 7.45pm.  What a great night out it makes with Disco from 6 ‘til late in the marquee, Burgers, Curry, Bars and ample free parking and Top Quality National One Rugby with League Leaders Chinnor RFC. Just under 2,500 people attended the last Friday Nights Live before Christmas to watch Chinnor beat local rivals Reading Rams to take the top spot as league leaders in National One, the third tier of English Rugby. It will be a fast, exciting game as Chinnor look to repeat their early season away win over Rosslyn Park to keep their top spot. Come and support your local team, the top rugby side in Oxfordshire.

Meanwhile on Saturday, 3rd February, Chinnor fresh off a 57-0 destruction of Forest of Dean side Cinderford beat visitors Sedgley Park in a tough, close game with the final scoreline 38 - 34. This cemented their position at the top of National One, the third tier of England Rugby. If Chinnor can maintain this form to the end of the season and remain league leaders they will gain promotion to the Championship.

On the same day Elliot Millar-Mills, who just a year ago was playing for Chinnor, made his debut off the bench for Scotland in their 1 point Six Nations win over Wales in Cardiff. That illustrates the very high standard of National One and how local rugby can be the pathway to International honours. Director of Rugby Nick Easter (ex- England and Harlequins) earlier commented, "Absolutely delighted to see Elliot named in the Scotland squad. This time last year he was plying his trade marching our scrum forward. He never gave up on his dream that something big was around the corner. We were loathe to lose him but happy for his progression to Edinburgh. Then a premiership deal with Saints and now an International call up. A great story of perseverance and belief and yet another example of National One being an excellent pathway."

With sides from Tots to Veterans, outstanding coaches and a fully inclusive club ethos all new players are always welcome. https://www.chinnor-rfc.com/
