The Thame Good Neighbour Scheme (TGNS) launched in March 2015 and since then it has received 580 requests from almost 150 local residents in need of some help. The scheme is made possible thanks to a team of fantastic volunteers (many are pictured above) who give their time to assist those in need in our community with transport, shopping, befriending and much more.
To thank the scheme's volunteers, and to celebrate the scheme's fourth birthday, a tea and cake afternoon was held in the Town Hall yesterday. New and old volunteers joined members of the TGNS committee and co-ordinators to celebrate and share experiences of the scheme.
The Thame Good Neighbour Scheme always welcomes new volunteers to join the scheme and help others in the community. Volunteering for TGNS can be a very rewarding experience; giving a bit of time to listen or offer a helping hand can make a real difference to people's lives.
