Thame Youth Theatre are raising the curtains

Thame Youth Theatre (TYT) inspires creativity, confidence and friendship. They strive to bring out the best in all their members through Dance, Drama and Theatre Craft. With a new timetable, fresh website, and face to face classes, TYT are excited to get young people back to their spacious studios at Lord Williams’s Lower School. You can find a full list of their offering on their website.

Thame Youth Theatre is a small, local vibrant youth theatre for local children aged 7 – 18yrs who attend drama and dance classes at exceptionally reasonably priced term fees; making their theatrical experience accessible to as many young people as possible in Thame and the surrounding local villages.

“Fond memories as a parent watching my daughter’s shows with TYT. They were and still are inspirational to so many of Thame’s youngsters – essential to keep them there for the future.” Jo, Parent

TYT put on 12 shows every year, have trained thousands of students – some of whom go into work in Film, Televisions and The National Theatre - but for many, TYT provides an extended family and a safe space to be themselves.

Over the numerous Lockdowns, TYT worked hard to adapt and move online but sadly their reserves were eaten into. But the Community of Thame swooped in to help! After their live-streamed production of A Midzoomer Night’s Dream and series of Radio Plays were released, they have been fundraising over the few weeks and have been astounded by the feedback and support our members past and present have given.

“We are all truly grateful for the generosity and kindness of our donors. It has been heart-warming to read about the fantastic experiences our past members have had with TYT and the positive impact we had and continues to have on their adult life. We are also thankful to our current members who have joined us online for Masterclasses, Dance and Drama classes. We can’t wait to see you again and welcome new faces as we enrol for our Summer Term.”
Christie, Tutor and Interim Chair for Thame Youth Theatre
