Thame United bowed out of the FA Cup at the first qualifying round on Sunday

Thame United bowed out of the FA Cup at the first qualifying round on Sunday.

Thame United lost to Baldock Down, 4-3 in a thrilling game of FA Cup football. The Emirates FA Cup had picked the tie as the game of the round and it certainly didn’t disappoint, with 7 goals on view for the neutrals.

Baldock took an early lead before Dan West equalised on 31 minutes. Two for Baldock and one on the stroke of half time for Thame striker, Lynton Goss meant that Baldock Town went into the half time break leading 3-2.

Baldock increased their lead shortly after the break to make it 4 -2. However Goss again, managed to give Thame a glimmer of hope as he pulled one back after 58 minutes. Thame spent the rest of the game looking for an equaliser but despite their best attempts, they couldn’t find the crucial goal they needed to take the game to a reverse fixture at the ASM.

Thame will be disappointed but they can now focus on turning their league campaign round after a stuttering start. Baldock town progress into the second qualifying round where they have been drawn against Aylesbury United.
