20 teams have booked all available slots at Thame Swimathon 2017. Any new team entry form will now be put on hold onto a waiting list. The 5th edition of the Thame Swimathon will take place at the Thame Leisure Centre on Sunday 26 February 2017, from 11:00 till 15:00.
This is a fun and fundraising event organised by the Rotary Club of Thame. The event is possible due to generous local sponsors who kindly covered most of the costs: Thame Leisure Centre, Park Street Dental Clinic, Aston Hearing, Booker Tate, and Ignite Sport.
Most of the teams have taken the option to allocate 50% of the money raised towards their favourite cause, and 50% towards Thame Rotary’s local charities: Red Kite
Children’s Centre, Wheel Power, and Hope and Homes for Children.
One of the participating teams is Team EYAI which decided to donate half of the money raised to Enhancing Young Adults Independence (EYAI).
Jo Brown, founder of EYAI, who coordinates the swimming team, explained what EYAI stands for: “Enhancing Young Adults’ Independence (EYAI) supports young adults
with low academic skills, who have been struggling to keep in employment or to gain employment. EYAI’s support is achieved through mentors who work with them through 12 week practical working positions which also builds their self-confidence, giving them the opportunity to retain the job. EYAI’s work covers Thame and surrounding areas as well as Aylesbury Vale.”
