Bradley Baker, a 10-year-old freestyle snowboarder from Thame in Oxfordshire, has been selected to the Snowsport England Home Nations Park and Pipe Academy for the 2017/18 season.
The talented snowboarder, who attends Tetsworth Primary School and trains at The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead, will be part of the Snowsport England Home Nations Park and Pipe Academy for the forthcoming winter. Being part of the Academy will allow Bradley to be part of training weekends at Loughborough University where they get access to world-class facilities. He will also get support with gymnastic sessions, nutrition and fitness, as well as the opportunity to take part in on-snow camps in Europe throughout the winter.
Bradley said on learning of his selection: “I am so proud to have been picked up by Snowsports England and asked to train under the eye of the national coaches and trainers. I work hard and it's nice to see I am taking the right steps towards achieving my goals – which is ultimately going to a Winter Olympics and winning gold, of course!”
Bradley is sponsored by The Snow Centre as one of their team riders and Sputniks Snowboard Shop in Hillingdon, and will be looking to develop his snowboarding as he aims to become part of the GB Park and Pipe team in future years.
Snowsport England Talent Development Officer Ian Findlay said: "We are delighted that Bradley has been selected to be part of the Snowsport England Home Nations Park and Pipe Academy. He has shown that he has both the talent and attitude to become part of the Academy, which will aid his journey towards competing at a National level. Bradley will be part of training camps both on and off snow throughout the season, aimed at developing individual skill and all mountain performance. We hope he enjoys being part of the Snowsport England Park and Pipe set up."
