A new initiative was launched today in Thame, which the Police hope will create a safer environment in the Thame community.
The SHOP WATCH scheme will provide the retail community with greater capabilities to deal with persons committing offences in the town. A person found committing an offence such as shoplifting or ASB could be banned from all shops. The maximum ban time will be unlimited. Shops will be aware of who is banned through the sharing of information with the Police.
These same shops will also have a constant direct radio link to each other and also the Police. This will provide faster communications between all shops and enable an intelligence and information sharing capability throughout Thame. A radio will also be carried by a member of the Thame Neighbourhood Police team to ensure regular contact and help a faster response in the event of a crime occurring.
You will start to see some new stickers in the windows of the shops in Thame.
Should you be banned under the SHOP WATCH scheme and see the above stickers being displayed then you are not permitted to enter this shop.
