Thame Players’ Ointment is the Best Prescription for Laughter!

Thame Players are delighted to be putting on their second production since the end of lockdown, a hilarious farce by Derek Benfield, called A Fly in the Ointment. It’s being performed at The Players Theatre, Thame, from Tuesday 7th - Saturday 11th September. If you have been missing a good dose of laughter over the past few months,                         come and see this side-splitting show to make up for lost time!

The plot is based on a series of mistaken assumptions and the action is fast and furious, revolving around a cast of six: Ron Corley MP, Minister for the Environment; Louise, Ron’s wife; Donna, his mistress; George Billing, a doctor; Brenda, a local policewoman; and Albert, a pizza delivery boy.

Ron, having just finished his affair with Donna, visits her home, desperate to retrieve some incriminating photographs.  But Donna is reluctant to end the affair, and matters take a turn for the worse when Ron's wife, Louise, arrives unexpectedly, and George Billing, a doctor, arrives wishing to declare his love for Louise. Add into the mix Brenda, a rather frustrated local policewoman, and Albert, a youthful pizza delivery boy who can spot an opportunity when he sees one, and the scene is set for riotous entertainment!

A Fly in the Ointment is directed by Tony Long who said, ‘This show offers the best ointment that money can buy to get you laughing from start to finish. We couldn’t be more pleased to be back, staging a brilliant farce by a master of the genre, and one that will have audiences in stitches – just the right medicine after all the long months of lockdown!’

Tickets are £8 (no concessions) on Tuesday/ Wednesday, and £ 10 (£9 concessions) on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Book online atwww.thameplayers.co.uk  or from the Information Centre at Thame Town Hall (check https://www.thametowncouncil.gov.uk/visit-thame/information-centre/for opening times).
