Thame pet portrait photographer selected as finalist in major 2021 portrait awards

You can’t keep a creative down, even in a lockdown!

Photographer Mark Hewitson of Mark Hewitson Photography a specialist pet portrait studio has had 4 images selected to be in the finals of The Xperience Professional Portrait Awards 2021, where the overall winning client also picks up a £500 piece of wall art, specially printed and custom framed to hang in their own homes in a prestigious industry competition for portrait photography.

Mark, who owns the lifestyle pet photography business in Thame has had 4 images selected across 3 Categories. The portraits were selected out of almost 1000 images in the first judging of the year and now go through to the finals in December at The Xperience Awards 2021 ceremony.

Mr Hewitson said he was “ecstatic” to have his images through to the final, “To be recognised as one of the best creative pet photographers in the country is a privilege that cannot be underestimated.”

The Xperience group, first launched the awards in 2015 to develop creativity in every shoot as well as to challenge the photographic studios from across the UK and Ireland with everyday clients.

Mark Cleghorn, the training director said: “As professional photographers, we like many have had our studio doors closed due to the pandemic, but when they were open our photographers demonstrated you cannot keep a creative quiet. Looking at this first selection of finalists I was not surprised in the mastery of light but what was amazing to see was the expressions. In a year that has kept everyone locked up, it was great to see expressions, passion and emotion. Like everyone, creatives can be tortured minds when not allowed to use their talents, what I can see is that they not only celebrated but also made their clients appreciate and celebrate photography even more. The standard of entries this year so far is exceptional, and I am looking forward to seeing how these photographers develop trends and styles during the year when they are allowed too.
