Thame opticians launches stylish fundraiser

23rd May 2026

A THAME opticians is combining fashion and fundraising this May, celebrating the launch of a new designer eyewear range with two in-store prize draws supporting Cancer Research UK.

The TED by Ted Baker collection is now available at Specsavers. To celebrate, locally owned and run Specsavers in Thame is inviting customers to take part in a fun, fashion-focused campaign that will raise money for charity while offering the chance to win prizes.

Running until 31 May, the first raffle gives customers the opportunity to win a cuddly ‘Teddy Baker’ toy, with a suggested donation of £1 a strip. All proceeds from this draw will go directly to Cancer Research UK, helping to fund vital research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Alongside this, the store is hosting a second prize draw for a pair of TED by Ted Baker frames from the new collection (single vision lenses included, with optional upgrades available). To enter, customers simply need to try on a pair of the new glasses in-store and have their photo taken using a polaroid camera in a fun ‘photo booth’ style. The polaroid print then becomes their raffle ticket, with entry free or in exchange for an optional donation.

Neil Perry, store director at Specsavers Thame, says: ‘We’re always looking for new and engaging ways to bring our community together while supporting important causes. The launch of the TED by Ted Baker range felt like the perfect opportunity to do something a little different, combining style with fundraising.

‘The response so far has been fantastic – people are really enjoying getting involved, trying on the new frames and having a bit of fun with the photo booth. At the same time, we’re proud to be raising money for Cancer Research UK and making a small contribution to the incredible work they do.’

Rooted in British heritage and representing refined, modern luxury, the TED by Ted Baker collection is a wearable collection for men and women that doesn’t compromise on quality and attention to detail.

The collection, of 26 glasses and six sun styles, features details such as iconic Ted Baker floral prints and patterns while select frames also feature the brand’s signature metal ribbon detail. The mix of metal and acetate styles are versatile and lightweight making them comfortable to wear all day and night.

Both raffles are open until the end of the day on 31 May, with winners to be drawn shortly afterwards.

You are warmly invited to attend Death Cafe in Thame. at 7:30pm in room 1 of the Barns Centre, and held on the third Thursday of each month thereafter A Death Cafe is an informal gathering where people can discuss death over tea and cake. We’re aiming to normalise the topic of death, raise acceptance, and help people make the most of their lives by breaking the taboo around mortality. It is not a grief support group or counselling session. These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space. Death Cafe is run on a not-for-profit basis but if you are able to make…
