Thame man arrested on suspicion of attempted sexual assault on bus

5th February 2026

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to come forward following sexual assault in High Wycombe.

Between 4.15pm and 5pm yesterday (4/2), on the 1B Carousel bus going towards High Wycombe, a man made inappropriate comments about a teenage girl after asking her for help with his phone. The man proceeded to inappropriately touch her shoulders, before she moved to a different area on the bus.

Once the bus stopped at High Wycombe bus station, the man tried to leave the bus but was involved in an altercation with a male teenager who requested he apologise to the victim.

A 58-year-old man from Thame has been arrested on suspicion of attempted sexual assault. He is currently in custody.

Investigating officer PC William Davies, based at High Wycombe police station, said: “I am appealing for the members of the public who witnessed this incident, particularly if they have video footage, to please come forward with any information which may assist our investigation.

“Anyone with information should call 101 or make an online report via our website, quoting crime reference number 43260058447.

“Our investigation continues at a pace, with officers deployed across the area providing visible reassurance patrols so if you have any information, questions or concerns then please speak to them.”

We’re aiming to normalise the topic of death, raise acceptance, and help people make the most of their lives by breaking the taboo around mortality. It is not a grief support group or counselling session. These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space. Death Cafe is run on a not-for-profit basis but if you are able to make…
