Thame Hockey Club will be hosting the Thame Hockey Fest on Saturday 10th September in conjunction with England Hockey’s national ‘Hockey Fest’.
The purpose of this free event will be to throw open the pitch to the local community, encourage local hockey fans and people who are interested in finding out more about the club to play some hockey and most importantly to have some fun!
“Our Club and this event are open to all – from new, ex or current members and players of all ages to parents and volunteers. People don’t have to play hockey to be part of our club as there are plenty of other opportunities to be part of their local club community. Following GB’s success at Rio’s 2016 Olympic Games, we aim to inspire more players, volunteers and social members to come together and get into hockey. We promise a warm and welcoming atmosphere” says Clifford Brown, Chairman of the club.
There will be a junior session in the morning consisting of:
- Under 8 and Under 10 sessions from 10:00 -11:00 with warm up, a few simple practice drills and then into mini games
- Under 12 and Under 14 sessions from 11:00 - 12:00 following a similar approach
A mini tournament for adults is planned for the afternoon from 13:00 to 15:00 with informal drinks afterwards. Refreshments, music, and games to enjoy from 10:00 to 15:00. Please come along and invite your friends and family.
Whether you are getting back into hockey or picking up a stick for the first time, anyone can come along and give hockey a go. Thame Hockey Club can be found at the Thame Leisure Centre astro turf, Oxford Road, Thame, OX9 2BB.
