Thame Under 12 Girls have just completed their first full season of football in the Bucks & Beds Combined Girls League. In a new initiative for the league and thanks to fantastic commitment from players and parents, the girls have had new teams to play and more competitive matches. The joint league, that was formed as a trial this season, is set to be repeated next year.
The girls finished the season in a respectable mid table position, which considering this was their first full season of football was impressive. As well as some great results in the league, the team also went on a great cup run. They overcame some strong opposition (including a couple of penalty shoot outs), to reach the quarter finals, where they were eventually beaten by a very strong Division 1 side.
The biggest positive though has been the girls development as a team and the improvement in their overall play. With the results and performances getting better and better as the season progressed.
The U12 Girls are now looking forward to the tournament season, especially their own Festival of Football at Thame. The girls will be looking for a repeat of last year, where they won the U12 Girls section, on what was a fantastic day of football.
