55 parcels were delivered
These provided for 82 adults and 68 children
64% of these were referred by one of our partner agencies
This represents a significant increase on the numbers for February. The current
national Covid-19 emergency is understandably having an impact and people whose
jobs have been lost or who are self-employed but without any work have been in
contact. The Government restrictions on movement, vulnerable groups and social
distancing have also had an impact. Our local CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau) is
no longer able to operate, except as part off the national CAB phone support
network and we believe this is one reason for the increase in self referrals.
Donations to the Foodbank have kept up quite well but stocks are very low on
the following items:
- Tinned rice pudding
- 1 litre cartons of UHT semi-skimmed and whole milk (green and blue)
- 500g and 1kg bags of granulated sugar
- Tins of potatoes
- Tinned vegetables
- Tinned fruit
Community Larder
Because of government restrictions it has not been able to start this as
planned with a drop-in centre and cafe based at Christchurch in Thame.
However, a large number of new volunteers have got in touch and so it
has been possible to set up a temporary delivery model for the
Larder. At the time of writing there are already 40 members which is very
encouraging.
